NAC launched today an interactive webpage which allows users to choose just the right consultant, tailored to their nuclear fuel cycle needs.
Peachtree Corners, GA, December 21, 2021 – NAC International Inc. (NAC) announced today it has received U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) certification for the OPTIMUS®-L version of its versatile OPTIMUS® (OPTImal Modular Universal Shipping) transport packaging system. The OPTIMUS-L is now approved under NRC 10 CFR Part 71 with Certificate of Compliance (CoC) USA/9390/B(U)F-96, effective December 16, 2021. This new certificate follows recent licensing approvals under Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) certifications for the OPTIMUS system in Canada, where NAC has delivered systems in support of an important nuclear decommissioning project.
A contract worker for NAC International, Michael “Shawn” Miller, died while working at the Three Mile Island site on September 10. The incident occurred while unloading a truck and was outside the radiological controlled area, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The following is a statement from Kent Cole, president and CEO of NAC:
“NAC extends its most sincere condolences to Shawn's family, friends, and colleagues. This is a terrible tragedy and appropriate reviews are going on. It would be premature to make any further comment pending the results of those reviews.”
NAC International congratulates the Interim Storage Partners (ISP) team on successfully obtaining an NRC license for a consolidated interim storage facility for used nuclear fuel. As a project participant, NAC worked to support the licensing of the ISP project and to ensure NAC cask technology is covered under the license for ISP deployment. NAC International Inc. (NAC) announced that a second model of its versatile OPTIMUS® transport packaging system has received certification from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). Known as the OPTIMUS-H version for its capability to accommodate high activity nuclear waste, the system is now approved under CNSC Certificate Number CDN/2098/B(U)F-96 (Rev. 0) effective August 18, 2021.

ANS teamed up with the Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy and Discovery Education to create the program.
