NAC International LWT Selected for Packaging and Transportation of Strontium-90 Capsules for Zeno Power Systems Waste-to-Energy Radioisotope Power System Thermoelectric Generator

Peachtree Corners, GA - June 22, 2022 – NAC International Inc. was recently selected by Zeno Power Systems, Inc. to support the packaging and transportation of by-product Strontium-90 (Sr-90) capsules that will be used to support Zeno Power System’s innovative work in the development and deployment of smaller, lighter, more versatile, radioisotope power systems (RPS).

Zeno Power’s RPS thermoelectric generator design will enable lightweight and commercially affordable power generation in harsh and remote environments including ground, space, and maritime applications.

NAC International will submit for a Nuclear Regulatory Commission license amendment for a revised Certificate of Compliance (CoC) to the LWT Cask System to permit shipment of the Sr-90 capsules. The by-product Sr-90 capsules will be retrieved and transported from various locations to Zeno Power System’s partnering Sr-90 fuel source fabrication facility.
The LWT cask system, an industry workhorse, is a NRC certified Type B(U)F package ideal for transporting a wide variety of radioactive materials, including Type B quantities of high-activity materials including spent fuels, source materials, transuranic waste (TRU), irradiated fuel waste (IFW) and reactor hardware.
