The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission recently approved an amendment to NAC’s MAGNASTOR Certificate of Compliance (CoC) which further expedites used fuel loading at decommissioning sites. Effective Dec. 7, 2020, the amendment supports NAC in developing efficient fuel-specific loading patterns, optimally combining older/cooler with newer/hotter assemblies in the storage canister. Additional hardware options to effectively tailor loading approaches for challenging plant layouts and situations are also included in the amendment.

“This latest amendment is another demonstration of NAC’s dedication to advance our MAGNASTOR dry cask storage solution to support our valued customers in achieving prompt defueling. We provide our clients the dedicated and customized attention they merit to achieve their goals, including safe and efficient decommissioning. The NAC Reliability Assured commitment is unwavering, and NAC’s customers’ success is our success,” said Kent Cole, NAC’s President and CEO.
